Barkin’ for the Blues 2013
On December 7th I got the opportunity to participate in Barkin’ for the Blues, an annual fundraising and adoption event sponsored by the St. Louis Blues. Several Blues players are involved in animal rescue organizations, so while I’m not a big hockey fan, I am a Blues fan!
Both Stray Rescue of St. Louis and Five Acres Animal Shelter participated. We set up in section 125 at the Scott Trade Center to sell merchandise and show off some of our adoptable dogs.
My mom’s Stray Rescue foster, Tombolo.
This border collie mix from Five Acres was a dream! He’s only 7 months old but was so good the entire event, even with hundreds of people passing by. And his foster parents have taught him several tricks!
Twist Tie! You may remember her from a past InstaFriday post.
This Jack-Russel mix garnered a lot of attention. He bounced everywhere he went. A good 3-4 feet in the air!
This guy. Just look at him. Little Butterball.
Don’t let this senior fella’s grumpy demeanor fool you. I totally got a tail wag out of him.
I’ve never been to a hockey game, so I snuck into the stands for a couple of minutes to check out the action. My observations were that the rink is much smaller than I expected, and I understand why they have those buzzers when someone makes a goal. There is no way I could follow the puck around for a whole game!

Oh what an awesome event – this looks SO fun, I never get to see Hockey matches but I love the bits I have seen, the noise, the excitement and the fast moving fun!
I hope the event was a great one and some of those great dogs found good homes. Hope was in every heart and on each doggy face.
