Radiant Orchid – Exploring The Trend
Pantone has announced 2014’s color of the year, and the winner is Radiant Orchid. A color I find myself describing as “neon purple”.
Below are some of my top picks for the bold purple color.
Products featured, clockwise from center:
Women’s Pintuck Tunic from Old Navy
Zuo Lider Plus Purple Office Chair
Wanted Lario Flats in Purple from Zappos
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Darling
Stella McCartney Eco Faux Nappa Clutch
Keurig Radiant Orchid MINI Plus Brewer
You can also check out my Etsy Treasury featuring all handmade and vintage items in Radiant Orchid.
You may not care about Pantone’s opinion but it has a big influence on the design, fashion and beauty industry. Expect to see a lot of purple this coming year! I’m sure it’s purely coincidental, but 4 out of 5 pug charm bracelets I have sold in my shop since opening in October have been purple – but maybe my customers are just ahead of the trend!
I would also be lying if I said it didn’t influence me while I was picking out new paint colors for shop items. Exhibit A:
As for my opinion – I happen to really like this year’s choice. It’s not a color I would choose to invest in a big item like a piece of furniture, but I would definitely rock a radiant orchid nail or blush. Or, if I was feeling really saucy even a lip!
What do you think of this year’s color of the year pick? Would you wear radiant orchid?

I have been wanting to paint something with it. I have a bench my husband made me for my front porch but I don’t love the color enough to paint my bench that color. I also have a step stool on my front porch I want to paint so I am going to paint the stool orchid and since I love the emerald I am going to paint emerald over it then destress the stool. I am going to paint the bench emerald and make some pillows to go on the bench with the orchid color. Now I just need some warm weather to paint.

It’s definitely a fun color and I’m thinking of adding it in small doses to my home office for some creative inspiration 🙂
