Holiday Gift Guide for Dogs 2016 + Giveaway

All year long I stay on the lookout for the best the pet industry has to offer, concluding with my favorite post of the year – my Holiday Gift Guide for Dogs. I know we spoil our pets all year long, but Christmas is a great excuse to go just a little bigger. Stay til the very end to enter to win some of the gifts featured!

As always, my annual gift guide is set by me alone. I reach out to brands after they’ve been chosen about sponsoring a giveaway prize. The list is not contingent in any way on whether they participate. So without further ado, let’s get to it!

Zuke’s Mini Naturals Trees

Zuke’s is a staple of my annual gift guide and for good reason. They make tasty, high-quality treats, and they come up with creative holiday editions of their popular products every year! This year they’ve made a special turkey and cranberry version of their Mini Naturals Trees. Mini Naturals are a great training treat or for filling a puzzle toy. You can find Mini Naturals Trees online or in-store at Petsmart.

Bubbletastic Bacon Bubble Machine for Dogs

You’d be hard pressed to find something funnier than a video of dogs trying to catch bubbles. But, it’s probably not the tastiest to eat what is essentially just soap. Enter the Bubbletastic Bacon Bubble Machine for dogs. If the allure of floating balls isn’t enough, the bubbles are bacon scented to really get your dog in a frenzy. You can also buy the Bacon Bubbles alone.

SmartBones Candy Canes

Every year pet stores fill their displays with very cute, but very unhealthy holiday shaped rawhide. So, every year I look for safe alternatives. One I found this year is SmartBones Candy Canes. Though they look and feel similar, SmartBones are made with vegetables and chicken and 100% rawhide free. The candy canes are super cute, but only come in 4-inch size, so if you have a larger dog you may want to stick to the non-holiday bones.

PAW5 Wooly Snuffle Mat

PAW5 Wooly Snuffle Mat

I won’t say a ton about the PAW5 Wooly because I just did a full review recently. But, I think this is a great gift idea for a wide variety of dogs. It functions both as a slow feeder and a puzzle. And would work perfectly with the Mini Naturals Trees above!

Best Bully Sticks Candy Canes

Best Bully Sticks Candy Canes

Another great alternative to rawhide is holiday shaped bully sticks! This year I found some great options from Best Bully Sticks. They have both candy cane and bows. I’m partial to the candy canes, and Best Bully Sticks were nice enough to send us some to try – the dogs are waiting anxiously for Christmas morning!

Best Bully Sticks Gift Box

They also have some great pre-packed gift boxes including the candy cane bully sticks, other treats and chews, and a Planet Dog holiday toy which was featured in last year’s gift guide.

Holiday Lamb Chop

Pug has this Lamb Chop toy minus the Santa hat and red gloves, and it’s one of his absolute favorites. It has squeakers in all four feet and a large squeaker in its belly. Pug isn’t particularly rough on his toys, but its held up very well, especially considering it’s white. It is kind of difficult to find the holiday edition online (both Petco.com and Amazon are sold out, but I included a link one currently in stock) so you might consider getting the regular version as it’s almost just as cute.

Bubba Rose Candy Cane Dog Truffles

Christmas time is the perfect excuse for decadent treats, even for your pets! These festive dog truffles from Bubba Rose fit the bill perfectly. Plus, the gorgeous packaging makes it a perfect hostess gift for pet parents hosting holiday festivities. Bubba Rose Biscuit Co. uses local, organic ingredients and all of their treats are wheat, corn, soy & gluten free.

Power Plush Turkey

This brand actually has some really adorable holiday toys. Definitely give them a look. BUT, I am absolutely obsessed with the whole roast turkey plush! While you enjoy your Christmas dinner, your dog can chow down on their own turkey. The plush turkey comes in two sizes, and has a durable mesh fused to the inside for durability.

Bowser Beer Pug Bowser Beer for Dogs

Bowser Beer is non-alcoholic beer for dogs. It comes in three flavors, though we’re partial to the Porky Pug Porter for obvious reasons. My dogs both enjoy it straight up out of a bowl, but I also pour the leftovers over their kibble which they love. Besides being tasty, Bowser Beer has added vitamins and glucosamine, so it’s quite healthy as well! A 6-pack of Bowser Beer would make a great Christmas gift for your dogs or as a hostess gift at holiday parties.

Also, if you order directly from their website, you can get a 6-pack with custom labels featuring your dog!

P.L.A.Y. Outdoor Dog Tent

This tent is the real deal. Rugged and built for the outdoors, but designed just for pups! Unlike some other dog tents, this bad boy is large enough for big dogs (as pictured above) and meant to withstand outdoor conditions. Even if you don’t go camping, this would be a great quiet place for your dogs to escape to while outside in the sun.

Made in the USA with human-grade ingredients, these Spot Farms Turkey Meatballs with cranberries will give your dog a taste of the holiday season in one delicious treat.

Dog Nog (Primal Raw Goat’s Milk)

Treat your dogs to their own version of eggnog with Primal Raw Goat’s Milk. Along with turmeric and ginger, Primal adds cinnamon as a natural anti-inflammatory. So it’s kind of the right flavor. Either way, goat’s milk is a tasty treat with a host of health benefits. You can read more about the benefits and find a local retailer on Primal’s website.

Toilet Water Dish

And finally, something truly ridiculous, but which I find endlessly amusing. Do you have a small dog who is too short to enjoy drinking out of the toilet bowl? Well, now they can! The Toilet Water Dish is a self-feeding water dish that…well, it looks likes a toilet. That’s really its selling point. I realize not everyone would want a miniature toilet hanging around their house, but think how funny it would be to have this water dish set up next to the real thing in the bathroom? Just me?
