Pug Reviews: Wellness Soft WellBites

Wellness Soft WellBites Chicken and VenisonThis month we’re trying some new treats from Wellness as part of our series with Chewy.com. Wellness is one of the pioneers of the industry, as one of the first mainstream pet food companies to remove corn, soy and grains from their foods. Despite their popularity, we haven’t actually tried very much from the brand.

Pug Wellness Soft WellBites

So, this month we chose Wellness Soft WellBites.  These soft WellBites come in some great unique flavor combos like Lamb & Salmon and Turkey & Duck. I chose the Chicken & Venison recipe. All of the recipes also contain other healthy ingredients like apples, blueberries and flaxseed. Full ingredients:

Chicken, Venison, Chickpeas, Ground Potatoes, Vegetable Glycerin, Guar Gum, Carrots, Cane Molasses, Salt, Natural Smoke Flavor, Blueberries, Garlic Powder, Flaxseed, Phosphoric Acid, Sweet Potatoes, Apples, Sorbic Acid (a preservative), Mixed Tocopherols added to preserve freshness, Rosemary Extract, Green Tea Extract, Spearmint Extract.

The green tea extract intrigued me. I see that a lot in health foods for people but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it in a dog treat.

These soft bites smell really strong (not bad – just strong) so they would be a good high-value treat for training. Since they’re soft you can also tear them into smaller pieces.

I actually had a heck of a time getting any photos after I opened the bag because both dogs were all over me. Taste wise they were definitely a hit. Molly Treat Catch These are pretty simple little treats but the dogs definitely loved them! I like that they get a bit of venison since it’s not a protein they get regularly. It’s also chock full of other healthy ingredients. The only dogs I wouldn’t recommend these for are dogs that have a potato intolerance since they are included. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more Wellness treats after this great experience!
