On Sunday I volunteered with Stray Rescue of St. Louis at the St. Louis National Charity Horse Show in Lake St. Louis. It was my first time attending and even though I know next to nothing about horse events I had a lot of fun. Funds raised at the event were split between Stray Rescue and TREEhouse which focuses on therapeutic horsemanship.
For most of the day we were near this play pen full of puppies! I don’t remember their individual names, but their litter is the “Island Puppies” so they’re all named after an island. If their fur looks funny, it’s because they’re still recovering from mange. When they were rescued they were very emaciated and completely bald. Now they all have pot bellies and their hair is almost grown back!
Oh yeah, there were some horses at the horse show too. I didn’t get to take many pictures because I only had my phone with me. Since I didn’t know beforehand where we would be assigned, I didn’t know if I’d be able to use my DSLR.
This is also a great event for dog lovers because they are absolutely everywhere! When I wasn’t watching the horses, I was walking around visiting with every dog instead of interacting with humans. I know you feel me.
