Pug Reviews: Grain Free Greenies
I remember when Greenies came on the market many years ago; it was the first time I had ever seen a dental treat. Nowadays pet dental health is a huge industry and we know how important clean teeth and gums are for our pet’s overall health. And while I use and love a variety of dental products with my dogs, to me Greenies will always be the original.
I know a lot of my readers have dogs with food sensitivities so I was really excited to work with Chewy.com to share with you that Greenies has a new Grain-Free line of their classic Greenies Dental Chews! I happened to have a sample of a traditional Greenie with me when doing the review, so I can vouch for the fact that the grain-free version looks, feels and smells exactly the same. The ingredient panel for the Grain-Free Greenies:
Dried chickpeas, gelatin, glycerin, powdered cellulose, dried potato, water, lecithin, potato protein, natural poultry flavor, minerals (dicalcium phosphate, calcium carbonate, potassium chloride, magnesium amino acid chelate, zinc amino acid chelate, iron amino acid chelate, copper amino acid chelate, manganese amino acid chelate, potassium iodide), choline chloride, dried apple pomace, fruit juice color, vitamins ( dl-alpha tocopherol acetate [source of vitamin E], vitamin B12 supplement, d-calcium pantothenate [vitamin B5], niacin supplement, vitamin A supplement, riboflavin supplement [vitamin B2], vitamin D3 supplement, biotin, pyridoxine hydrochloride [vitamin B6], thiamine mononitrate [vitamin B1], folic acid), turmeric color.
Greenies dental chews are softer and more pliable than some others that I use. I personally prefer a harder texture for my dogs. But, that’s a personal preference and the softer texture would definitely be ideal for some dogs.
For instance, my mom is fostering my grandma’s very senior beagle (we’re unsure of her age, but estimate 15+) while she is in rehab, and I have been giving her these each day. Her teeth are in really bad shape but she is able to eat the Greenies without problem. I also know that some dogs will chunk up the harder textured chews rather than chew them which defeats the purpose. If you notice that your dog is that type of eater, definitely consider the Greenies!
Overall, I would recommend the new Grain-Free Greenies especially for those dogs that would benefit from a softer dental chew. Since my dogs really loved the taste of them, I would definitely add them into my dental treat rotation in the future!
Disclosure: This bag of Grain-Free Greenies was sent to me for free by Chewy.com in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own and I never recommend a product I don’t fully believe in.

Oh my husband said #MaddiethePug never liked these so we didn’t try them! We did the toy instead on our blog. I love your pug! :):)

We like the idea of dental chews even though there are some weird ingredients in there.

These aren’t the most limited ingredient, but personally I’m not as strict when it comes to treats.
