Monthly Obsessions: June 2016

This month I’ve discovered or rediscovered some old some not-so-new items. Let’s get started!

Revlon Lip Butter Juicy Papaya

Revlon Lip Butters are one of my favorite lip products ever. They often live in my bag because if I need to apply something on the go, a lip butter will usually fit the bill. Since the beginning of spring, my go-to color has been Juicy Papaya.

It looks quite orange in the tube but because it’s a bit sheer, it combines with the color of your lips to give a lovely subtle coral. I’ve been trying to branch out and use some of my other colors but I end up grabbing the Juicy Papaya 9 times out of 10. It just screams “summer” to me!

Throwing Shade Podcast

Taking a weekly look at all the issues important to ladies and gays…and treating them with much less respect than they deserve.

I’ve actually been listening to Throwing Shade for a while but I feel like right now is the best time to jump in, with all the huge news breaking in the world and the most dysfunctional election cycle of most of our lives. I know it will not be for everyone. I was listening to it in the car with my mom one day and she said “is this something you listen to… often?” and we generally have a pretty similar sense of humor.

You’ll either love or hate their bizarre tangents. For me,  I happily risk looking like a lunatic laughing hysterically by myself in my car.

If you’re ideologically or otherwise conservative or find frequent references to genitals offensive, this is going to be a hard pass.

If you want to hear about some timely topics in a wonderfully stupid, but often poignant, way, check it out!

I’m not sure what rock I was living under, but I did not realize that VEEP was still on the air. And despite my love of politics I had never made the effort to watch it. But, after discovering that Tony Hale (Buster from Arrested Development) plays a main character on the aforementioned Throwing Shade podcast, I had to check it out.

Either this show is very underrated or I am extremely oblivious. It’s hilarious. And ridiculous. Julia Louis-Dreyfus is incredible. I absolutely love/hate her character. Selina Meyer is a terrible human and I want her to lose except I don’t because I want to keep watching her antics. Season 5 just wrapped up and though I think the first few seasons were the strongest, I’m dying to find out what happens next.

Greenies Pill Pockets Peanut Butter

Okay, I almost felt silly with this one because Greenies Pill Pockets have been around forever. But I swear they’re my dogs favorite treats right now. I’ve recently started giving Molly a daily anti-inflammatory for her arthritis and getting her Pill Pocket is her favorite time of day. And when I give Molly her medicine Pug nearly knocks me down to get some of his own. I usually give him an alternate treat but sometimes he won’t back down because he knows I’ve pulled a bait and switch.

I initially thought the Pill Pockets were expensive but I can actually get 2 or 3 uses out of one Pill Pocket by tearing off small pieces. The texture is like play-dough so you can squish it around the pill using just a small amount. Molly has been known to eat around a pill and spit it back out but she inhales the Pill Pockets even after watching me put a pill in!

I buy the peanut butter flavor but if you need grain-free look for the duck and pea variety.

That’s it for me, what have you been obsessing over lately?
