People often ask me if pugs shed a lot. And I just have to laugh. If it’s a concern, don’t even think about it. Pugs shed 24/7/365. They shed undercoat and top coat. They breathe, they snort, they shed! And while you’ll never break up with your trusty lint-roller while owning a pug, there are some things you can do to reduce the volume of hair floating around your house.
Shed No More
Earlier this year I was given the opportunity to try a supplement by PL360 called Shed No More. Sound like music to your ears? Putting it to the Test
It does take several weeks to take effect and since I wanted to do a thorough test I tracked my dog’s level of shedding, along with their overall skin and coat health, for 8 weeks.
I began our test at the beginning of spring, right when both dogs were going through their big “spring shed”. At that point, everything I owned, including my bed was covered in a layer of pug hair. Barely touching him would result in a handful of hair.
I pulled out my trusty FURminator (another essential tool in the fight against shedding) for a good session to show you what I was working with.
I would say it took at least 4 weeks before I really started to notice a difference, but I did see a difference. To really test how well the product was working I didn’t use the FURminator during that time, so I could accurately gauge if the amount of hair around the house had lessened. It definitely did!
Now, I won’t promise you that Shed No More will completely eliminate shedding, because that’s just not possible. I’ve had lots of people ask me for a product to stop shedding and the only way to accomplish that is a hairless dog!
What you can do however, is keep their skin and coat as healthy as possible. The Shed No More combines many effective supplements into one tasty tablet which makes it all the more convenient.
Molly’s skin has gotten a lot drier and sensitive as she’s gotten older, and she seems to constantly be itching and flaking. However, I noticed a decrease in the amount of scratching and flaking while she was on the Shed No More. Not to mention Miss “I’m 13 Now I Can Be Picky If I Want To” happily ate the Shed No More tablets whereas I have to doctor up other flavor tab medicines.
I ended up not filming an “after” video for a couple of reasons. One: since the product worked and there was less hair, the footage wouldn’t be terribly engaging. Two: using the FURminator does still produce a decent amount of hair because that’s what it’s designed to do. The real testament to the Shed No More’s efficacy is the fact that I saw much less hair on my bed, clothes and floor!
Overall, I can definitely recommend Shed No More to any pet parent with a shedding breed. If you’re interested in adding a skin and coat supplement to your dog’s diet, this one deserves a look since it combines several popular supplements into one product. While it won’t stop your dog from shedding completely, it’s a great tool to have in your fur-fighting arsenal.
