Pug Reviews: Dave’s Stewlicious Grain-Free Stew
Last month as part of our partnership with Chewy.com we got to try a new product from one of my favorite pet food brands. Dave’s is an old favorite from when I worked in a healthy pet store, and they have come out with a new line called Stewlicious. I chose the Chicken Pot Pie flavor.
I noted that the can says in smaller print “with lots of chicken” and that is no joke! You can see from the photo that the majority of what you get is big chunks of chicken, with the rest of the pot pie fixings being accents, along with just enough gravy to hold it all together. Dave’s foods are great for sensitive or allergy prone dogs as they contain no grains, corn, wheat or soy. Here’s the full ingredient list:
Chicken, Chicken Broth, Vegetable Broth, Dried Egg Product, Natural Flavor, Peas, Carrots, Potatoes, Green Beans, Agar-Agar, Calcium Carbonate, Canola Oil, Sodium Tripolyphosphate, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Cranberries, Iron Proteinate, Zinc Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Magnesium Proteinate, Sodium Selenite, Calcium Iodate, Vitamin E Supplement, Thiamine Mononitrate, Niacin Supplement, Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Vitamin A Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Folic Acid.
That is one of the reasons I’ve been a fan of Dave’s pet foods for so long. At $31.08 for a case of 12, you’re paying about $2.59 per can for really high-quality food. You’re getting a really premium product for a comparatively low price point. No, Dave’s nor Chewy is paying me to say so – if you’re a longtime reader you know I shout it from the rooftop when I find a great value!
Of course, none of that would matter if the food inside wasn’t also extremely tasty. No worries there! Pug and Pugs both gobbled it up. I’ve given it to them straight up and as a kibble topper. (Molly didn’t get to review this one because she is on a special kidney diet – coincidentally, Dave’s Restricted Protein and Phosphorous which I talked about here)
The boys are thoroughly enjoying the rest of their case. If you’re looking for a high-quality, grain-free, protein heavy food at an affordable price, give Dave’s Stewlicious a try!
Disclaimer: This case of Dave’s Stewlicious canned dog food was provided to me free of charge in exchange for an honest review as part of the Chewy Influencer network. As always, all opinions are my own and I never recommend any products I don’t fully stand behind.
